The borough of Manasquan, incorporated in 1887, is celebrating their 125th anniversary this summer. An anniversary committee has been formed to help celebrate the special occasion. With the help of Manasquan Savings Bank, which has been named the official Celebration Sponsor for the anniversary, the committee is planning several events for the coming months.
Manasquan Savings Bank has made a gracious donation of $10,000 to help the anniversary committee carry out the planned events. John Newman, chairman of the 125th anniversary committee, told the Coast Star “We’re just thrilled beyond belief that they said yes to us and that they are so generous, not only to the celebration, but to the town of Manasquan.”
Some of the events the donation will help fund are an anniversary parade, a clam bake, a boat parade through the Manasquan Inlet, two firework displays, a cocktail party, and a photograph and essay contest.
Manasquan Savings Bank has had a long history with Manasquan. It has been operating out of the borough since it’s initial incorporation in 1874 as the Squan Village Building & Loan Association and it’s reincorporation in 1910 as Manasquan Building & Loan Association. The bank has been growing with the community ever since.
