Five years ago, Mike Migliorisi walked into Manasquan Savings Bank with a unique request. “I want you to finance my pirate ship,” he asked Mark Beriault, EVP & Chief Lending Officer. Naturally, the shore’s leading lender complied (after Mike presented Mark with an iron clad business plan).
On the evening of July 13th, Captain Mike owner of Pirates on the Manasquan, officially celebrated the bank’s belief in him by entertaining 35 bank employees on his ship’s 1,000th voyage. Pirates on the Manasquan is a favorite destination for summer camps, birthday parties and family gatherings.
“When I met with Mark in the Fall of 2010, I had a business plan and sketches for the S.S. Jersey Girl, which was specifically designed to float in shallow water and eliminate motion-sickness. The Bank believed in my dream, my plans, and I wouldn’t be here celebrating our 1,000th trip without their expertise and flexible lending options,” said Captain Mike.
“It’s a wonderful success story that could only happen here at the Jersey Shore,” said James S. Vaccaro, President & CEO of Manasquan Savings Bank. “Here was a man with a dream and commitment backed by a solid business plan. As a bank, we are committed to helping our local community. It just so happens THAT our communities extend into the waterways,” he added standing on the bow the S.S. Jersey Girl.
About Pirates on the Manasquan
The S.S. Jersey Girl is the only Pirate Ship Adventure to land on an island during the voyage. This is made possible by the special design of the vessel, which only needs eight inches of water to float and fourteen inches when fully loaded with 51 people. To give back to the community, special needs children and military are always welcomed aboard, free of charge.
All Captains are certified by the USCG with a Commercial Captain License and are certified teachers. Check the website for sailing dates, times or to make a reservation; www.piratesonthemanasquan.com.
